Message from the President

2006 is off to a great start.  I/O Concepts has continued to grow with the addition of David McLean as Director of Customer Support.  We are excited about David joining the team and are committed to continue to provide our customers with the best service in the industry.

This issue of the newsletter includes several exciting announcements including the release of the WebSession Agility Licensing Program™, our new Secure Access Management System™ and information about the 2006 User Week, which, is planned for August.

What's New!

I/O Concepts is proud to announce the Secure Access Management System™ (SAMS). The SAMS is an easy way to provide secure authenticated access to your 2074, Visara, IDG or OSA ICC mainframe connection.   See more about the SAMS product in the Engineering Update section.

The WebSession™ Agility Licensing Program is now available.  WebSession with the Agility Licensing Programis a combination of Software and Licensing that is designed to reduce the costs of tn3270 emulation and web-to-host implementations in an organization. This combination makes it easy to add or remove users from any given user population, migrate users from desktop emulation to Web-enabled solutions, and even phase emulation out of an organization entirely without financial penalties. WebSession contains mainframe access and web-to-host solutions and an auditing mechanism, all in one package. Because WebSession 8 is written entirely in Java, organizations can use the components on any platform that meets their business needs.

Customers speak and we listen.  A few of our customers had mentioned that they would rather have someone answer the telephone during regular business hours.  We responded by hiring Silviya Manovska to handle administrative tasks and telephone greeting.   Be sure to say hello to Silviya next time you call.

Disaster Recovery Presentation

The Share Users Conference in Seattle was a big success. The I/O Concepts Sponsored presentation on Disaster Recovery had a great turn out and a lot of great questions from the audience.  We had our slot car track setup and gave away golf shirts and Match Box cars to attendees who successfully completed the race and three lucky winners won brand new Apple iPod Nano’s!  We would especially like to give a big thank you to Cliff Lundeen for doing the presentation.  It means a lot to us when our customers believe in our solutions enough to fly around the country to talk about their experiences with our products.

TIPS AND TRICKS

Are you running I/O Concepts CCS™ and SmartClient™ servers and are tired of dealing with multiple messages (message storms).  Look no further as you can download the following script and with a minimal amount of configuration customize your system so those messages don’t overwhelm your SmartClient display.  (http://www.ioconcepts.com/downloads/MessageStorm.txt).

Did you know that you can run our MultiViewer server so that you can have views of all the messages available in your consoles consolidated into one screen?  Contact support for details on how to get this great product running in your enterprise.

Have a suggestion for the Tips and Tricks section?

Send it to Support@ioconcepts.com with the Subject Tips and Tricks.

If your suggestion is used you will receive a free I/O Concepts golf shirt.

Engineering Update

The Secure Access Management System™ (SAMS) provides authentication, authorization and session selection services to any external TN3270 emulators running elsewhere on the network. It also provides an SSL interface to applications for truly secure consoles. The authorization and session selection service front end is made up of custom TN3270 screens, which, SAMS creates based on customer-defined requirements. When a user connects a TN3270 emulator to the SAMS server the user is first presented with a username/password screen.  An external agent such as I/O Concepts CCS authorization server or an internal database of usernames and passwords will provide authentication. Upon successful authentication, the user’s role is determined and a screen presented to allow the user to select one of several sessions available to him. Once a session is selected, the SAMS server will then connect to the destination session and proxy data between the emulator and the session.  To learn more about the SAMS solution visit http://www.ioconcepts.com
