I/O Concepts Announces Secure HMC Solution for Monitoring and Securing Access to Mainframe Hardware Management Consoles (HMCs)Bellevue, Wash., January 14, 2009 — I/O Concepts Software Corporation, a provider of mainframe consolidation and management solutions, announced today its solution for integrating the monitoring of hardware management consoles (HMCs) into its suite of mainframe console management software solutions. ioEnterprise Secure HMC provides the ability to monitor HMC messages and enter commands to the HMC remotely, while providing several additional security measures to protect the HMC from problematic commands as a result of accidental or malicious access. HMC messages are gathered by ioEnterprise Secure HMC using standard HMC messaging protocols, encrypted, and transmitted to an ioEnterprise viewer (the same ioEnterprise interface used to manage all other mainframe console messages) or can be delivered directly into other third-party management software. Control of the HMC is then facilitated by ioEnterprise Secure HMC with a point-and-click command panel that allows an authenticated user to issue commands to the HMC without having to be physically present at the HMC location. All commands issued are logged to ensure a record of HMC access for troubleshooting and audit purposes. “The ability to monitor HMC messages and enter commands to the HMC is an extremely helpful tool for our customers,” said Ed Doris, general manager for I/O Concepts. “It also allows staff from other physical locations to have remote control over their HMCs in data centers anywhere in the world, such as a disaster recovery site or ‘lights-out’ data center.” The ioEnterprise Secure HMC product is a supplemental product to the ioEnterprise Console Consolidation and Security (CCS) system.
