There are a wide variety of Agent Monitors for gathering comprehensive information about the operational state of an AS/400 or iSeries system.
The following is a list of EMS/System i Monitor Agents:
The Audit Monitor is configurable by Journal Entry Type, User, Job and/or Program.
The Communications Monitor checks the status of configured communication objects.
The Disk Monitor reports very granular ASP, iASP and individual disk unit utilization.
The Distribution Queue Monitor checks to see that all Distribution Queues are in a viable state to send and receive and that the number of files in the Distribution Queue has not exceeded allowable thresholds. Distribution Queues form an essential part of the System Network Architecture Distribution Service (SNADS).
Retrieves all hardware and OS/400 middleware (SLIC) errors entered in “Machine Log.”
Monitor IFS log files which can be used for WebSphere and other system services.
The Jobs Monitor checks all Jobs (including Subsystems and System Tasks) currently running against a list of Jobs defined in the configuration files as being of interest/critical.
Monitors how long a job has remained active or how long it has been on a Job Queue. Any jobs exceeding the configurable thresholds for either element will be reported. The Jobs Monitor is a pre-requisite for this monitor.
The Job Queue Monitor checks to see that all Job Queues are attached to a subsystem, that they are ready to release jobs into the Subsystem and that the number of jobs in the Job Queue has not exceeded allowable thresholds. All discrepancies will be reported.
Checks all active IP ports, both TCP and UDP, as would be displayed using the OS/400 NETSTAT command. It monitors for, and is configurable by, total and average Bytes In/Out, Idle Times by State and numbers of connections by address/port.
Checks any object to make sure that it is present or absent during the required time period. This monitor can refer to objects by either the associated OS/400 or IFS name. |
