SmartClient consolidates messages from multiple mainframes (390, Z series) and LPARs into a single window. On-The-Fly Automation filters messages and reduces demands on operator attention. Automatically escalate critical messages that go unanswered, all the way to e-mail or pagers. Multi-layered and fully customizable user authentication permits secure local and remote DR operations from any PC that has Internet access. Platform independent application.
CCS SmartClient is a platform-independent Java Application that lets you design rules to automate management of your mainframe consoles. CCS SmartClient can pass messages to other monitoring applications such as BMC's Patrol Enterprise Management and CA's Automation Point. SmartClient can communicate securely with the mainframe using SSL. One CCS SmartClient can interact with console sessions on many CCS Servers. Multiple SmartClients and CCS Viewers can simultaneously connect to the same CCS sessions. All session messages are stored in a SmartClient log, which is configured
- by number of lines of messages to be kept
- or number of days to keep messages.
Scroll through messages by LPAR, message color or priority.
- SmartClient can be used to monitor many console sessions simultaneously.
- If an important message is received, a console viewer for that session can be opened directly from the SmartClient window.
- This allows operators to concentrate on a single session while SmartClient is monitoring many systems in the background. Viewer connections can be encrypted using SSL. SmartClient interfaces with 3rd party paging programs like PageGate, a commercial paging package used by many companies including 911 emergency systems across the country.
- SmartClient receives a message that requires immediate operator intervention.
- SmartClient rules compose a message to be sent to pagers.
- This message is passed to PageGate via an email to PageGate's internal mail server.
- PageGate receives the message, and rules will determine who receives the page.
- Pages are sent via email to email paging systems, like Nextel and SkyPage paging system or via direct-dial pagers installed in the workstation.
Scrollable, resizable SmartClient window holds more messages than standard 3270 terminals. User designed rules can reformat console messages, change message color, substitute text, save messages to a persistently visible window until acted on, and rules can even launch applications including pager and email notifications. CCS SmartClient connects to a CCS Server using the same protocol as other CCS Viewers like the X-Direct CCS Viewer for UNIX or the WebSession CCS viewer for Java platforms. Operators can send commands and run SmartClient scripts and Java programs against all CCS sessions to which SmartClient is connected.
One CCS SmartClient can interact with multiple sessions on multiple CCS Servers so it does not matter what physical connection the CCS server uses to connect to the host. SmartClient can connect to console sessions through CCS ESCON, CCS Coax or through TN3270E servers like the IBM 2074 or Visara's SCON controller.
Search logs for specific messages.
SmartClient can send messages to any JDBC compatible database. Rules are written in a simple to use REXX-like language.
- Rules can change message colors, make text substitutions, reformat messages, filter messages, and launch programs using the SmartClient Scripting/Java API interfaces.
- Rules can be applied to individual sessions on the fly.
SmartClient Viewers attach to SmartClient from anywhere on your TCP/IP network. Administer SmartClient rules in a single location. Import and export sessions and rules to duplicate a SmartClient installation. Use our convenient interface to create, edit and test rules in the rules builder. SmartClient Viewers can receive all messages or subsets of messages based on the operators needs. F or example, tape operators can receive only tape messages while operations staff receives all console messages. SmartClient rules can trigger email and pager notification based on mainframe console message content.
